Winter Activities in Beitostølen

Ski slopes, cross country ski tracks, dog sledding and more

Beitostølen is a beautiful mountain village at the foot of the Jotunheimen National Park. In the winter season, the popular destination offers many activities for everyone.

From winter sport events to guided dog-sledding in the mountains - the winter-wonderland Beitostølen has a lot to offer. In this Story we want to showcase what makes Beitostølen Your perfect winter destination. Beitostølen is a small village in the mountains of Norway, about 900 meters above sea level. It is a year-round destination with various winter sports facilities and close connection to the nearby Jotunheimen National Park.

If you choose to have your snow-secured winter vacation in Beitostølen, there is a lot you can do. Go horseback-riding along frozen lakes and snowy forests, take a dog sledding trip in the National Park or just relax in front of the fireplace in one of our private cabins. Spend Christmas the way they do in movies and enjoy the fantastic view, no matter which way you turn!

Winter Activities
Cross-Country Skiing

Beitostølen has distinguished itself as a cross-country skiing destination due to the early season opening and a large trail network with 180 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails.

Our cross-country trails run through the whole of Beitostølen and the surrounding area. On most of our units, it is possible to start your cross-country skiing experience right outside the door! Otherwise, you can also take the chair lift up and start from there. Click here to see the map of our cross-country trails.

Along some of the trails there are "varmestuer", small heated houses, some of which are serviced. Here you have the possibility to warm yourself, drink some hot chocolate and relax for a bit. One of them is called Olebu
